Costs & Dues
We want every family to have a clear picture of what Cub Scouting costs before they sign up. Here’s a full breakdown.
Scouting America Registration
Scouting America charges an annual registration fee that covers national and council programs, insurance, and access to Scouting America facilities.
| Who | Annual Fee |
|---|---|
| Youth (Scout) | $85 |
| Adult volunteer (registered leader) | $65 |
Registration is paid directly through my.Scouting.org when you join. Renewals are due each year in the fall.
Pack Dues
Pack 300 collects dues each semester to cover rank patches, awards, den supplies, and pack-wide event costs. Current rate is $20–$30 per semester.
Uniform
A proper uniform isn’t required on day one, but Scouts are expected to have one for pack meetings and advancement ceremonies. Costs vary by rank:
- Shirt — $30–$40 (rank-specific color)
- Pants/shorts, belt, neckerchief, and slide — ~$40–$60 additional
- Handbook — ~$15 (one per rank year)
Official gear is sold at Meinders Scout Shop (Oklahoma City) and at ScoutShop.org. Second-hand uniforms are often available through the pack — ask at a meeting before buying new.
Camping & Events
Most pack events are low-cost or free. Camping trips are priced to cover meals and site fees only — typically $20–$40 per person per outing, paid before the trip. Summer and resident camps through Last Frontier Council have their own registration fees, which vary by program.
We announce event costs well in advance so families can plan ahead.
Fundraising
Pack 300 participates in fundraising each fall. Scouts who participate can earn credit applied to their own scout account — offsetting dues, camp fees, or Scout Shop purchases. No Scout is required to fundraise, but it’s a great way to reduce out-of-pocket costs for the year.
Financial Assistance
No family should sit out Cub Scouting because of cost. Scouting America offers Scoutreach camperships and assistance funds through the Last Frontier Council. Pack 300 may also have limited funds available. Reach out confidentially to the Cubmaster at cubmaster@mustangpack300.org — we’ll work something out.
